Hello Everyone!
My name is Amanda Folck and I am the new Extension Educator in turfgrass management for the turfgrass program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I recently graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science degree in Horticulture. I also worked full-time with the Purdue Athletics Department from June 2019 to December 2022, where I worked mainly with football at Ross-Ade Stadium and other football and athletic facilities. I also worked at Texas A&M Athletics Department from May 2017 to June 2019, where I oversaw the soccer field, Ellis Field, and helped in the other athletic facilities. I am also an alumnus of Clark State Community College with my Associate of Science degree in General Science and my Bachelor of Science degree from the Ohio State University in Sustainable Plant Systems: Turfgrass Science.
For my Extension experience, I was a member of 4-H for ten years showing livestock and other miscellaneous projects in Clark County, Ohio. Growing up on my family's fruit and vegetable farm, Folck Family Farm, I learned at an early age the use of Extension publications to help answer questions about crops to livestock. At Ohio State, I worked with Pam Sherratt on the Extension outreach for the athletic field management program.
I am excited to be part of the turfgrass team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to give back in my experiences in the turfgrass industry and help provide outreach to help the turfgrass stakeholders in Nebraska. In addition to my Extension role, I will also be teaching the PLAS 427: Turfgrass System Management capstone course at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to the turfgrass management undergraduates.
