Turf students compete at national competitions

Congrats to the 2026 turf teams, which finished respectfully 25th and 47th out of 78  teams at the Turf Bowl in the 2026 Golf Course Superintendent Association of America (GCSAA) conference in Orlando, Fla. The students who participated in the GCSAA Turf Bowl were Josh Hong, Riley Dinslage, Ryan Knipping, Nate Agosta, Joel Herman, and Jaden Krenzer. The advisor during the GCSAA conference was Anne Streich.

UNL PLAS students also attended the student challenge at the Sports Field Management Association Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, and placed 16th and 17th place out of 21 teams. The SFMA student challenge team included turfgrass science and management specialization option majors Alex Painter, Carson Vachal, Aaron Barnhouse, Easton Petsche, and agronomy option major Max Mueller. The advisor during the SFMA conference was Amanda Folck. 

During both conferences, all the students interacted with various representatives and visited various turfgrass facilities. 

Again, congrats to the UNL PLAS students who participated in the 2026 GCSAA Turf Bowl and SFMA Student Challenge!
