The Nebraska Turfgrass Field Day will take place on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the East Campus Turfgrass Research Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Amanda Folck

New Extension Educator Amanda Folck

Hello Everyone! My name is Amanda Folck and I am the new Extension Educator in turfgrass management for the turfgrass program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I recently graduated from Purdue University with a Master of Science degree in Horticulture. I also worked full-time with the Purdue Athletics Department from June 2019 to December 2022, where I worked mainly with football at Ross-Ade Stadium and other football and athletic facilities. I also worked at Texas A&M Athletics Department from May 2017 to June 2019, where I oversaw the soccer field, Ellis Field, and helped in the other athletic facilities. I am also an alumnus of Clark State Community College with my Associate of Science degree in General Science and my Bachelor of Science degree from the Ohio State University in Sustainable Plant Systems: Turfgrass Science.

Gaussoin named 2023 USGA Green Section Award recipient

Gaussoin, who is being honored for introducing new technologies and processes that advance putting green construction and management, will be honored at the USGA’s Annual Awards Dinner on Feb. 25 in Napa, California as part of the organization’s annual meeting.

UNL Turfgrass Sciences Team provides industry-leading expertise

Labor challenges are nothing new to the turfgrass industry and labor shortages have been especially hard felt over the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Turfgrass Sciences program is not immune, and we are also facing a temporary personnel shortage. We are currently working to get back to a full roster and in the absence of a full team it has been challenging to communicate all the great things being done at the University.

Keenan Loder Amundsen

Amundsen promoted to full professor

06/29/2022

Dr. Keenan Loder Amundsen is an important member of our turfgrass sciences team and is being promoted to full professor in August 2022. Keenan joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Turfgrass Sciences team as a Turfgrass Geneticist in 2011. Interviewing in January of that same year, the John Seaton Anderson Turfgrass Research Facility near Mead was under several inches of snow, and he couldn’t see the turfgrass germplasm that he’d soon be studying. Keenan and his family moved to Lincoln in May to start his career as an Assistant Professor of Turfgrass Genetics.
